THERAPY METHODS
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that is designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories.
EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION & REPROCESSING (EMDR)
DBT focuses on teaching people skills to manage intense emotions, cope with challenging situations, and improve their relationships. The four components of DBT are: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY (DBT)
According to REBT, it is largely our thinking about events that leads to emotional and behavioral upset. With an emphasis on the present, individuals are taught how to examine and challenge their unhelpful thinking which creates unhealthy emotions and self-defeating/self-sabotaging behaviors.
RATIONAL EMOTIVE BEHAVIOR THERAPY (REBT)
Integrative & Eclectic Therapy is a therapeutic process customized for each unique individual by using a combination of treatments that have been shown to be most effective for a particular problem. Utilizing Integrative & Eclectic therapy is a helpful method to honor and respect the cultural differences and unique life experiences of each person.

GET TO KNOW DOLORES
Becoming a therapist was second career for me. Prior to choosing this shift I worked in a leadership role in operations at a large telecom company. There I learned the ins and outs of what contributes to career and work stress that can impact people on a daily basis. During my time in a corporate role I was able to study for and receive an MA in organizational psychology.
After leaving corporate America in 2008, I taught undergraduate psychology at Kean University in N.J. and started a coaching and consulting practice working with women and leaders in personal and career advancement.
In 2013 I completed my MSW from Rutgers University and received my license to practice therapy. My initial clinical training was at the VA in New Jersey working with combat veterans. Since then I have worked with a variety of trauma survivors. In addition, I have several years of experience working with both individual clients and with crisis clients in an emergency room setting. These environments made stronger my commitment to understand my clients' lived experiences with a focus on empathy, openness, and compassion. My goal is to bring these qualities to my clients through our work together.
I am licensed in New Jersey and Florida and am seeing clients virtually at this time.
